Veterans Face Consecutive Budget Cuts

Even though the cost of providing medical care to veterans has been growing rapidly _ by more than 10 percent in many years _ White House budget documents assume consecutive cutbacks in 2009 and 2010 and a freeze thereafter."

I've heard White House officials say that when a service person leaves the military, they are then the responsibility of the Veteran's Affairs Office, as though their care is out of the Pentagon's hands.

It seems to always be the case that those who waive the flag the most fervently, through their actions care about this country the least.

Reading this, I'm reminded of a post I made back in June, 2005.
