Iraq veterans' unspoken epidemic

They enlisted. I'd tell them to stop bitching. My opinion.
True, they did enlist. But alot of young cats enlist for $$ for school, little job prospects, etc. You have to hope that if you're asked (or "miltarily volunteered") to sacrifice your life or health, it's not for the wrong reasons. These guys and gals are coming home seriously jacked up.

Well it's almost ALWAYS for the wrong reasons. Who's fault is it for being naive? ;)
Although I'm no historian, I generally agree with you. But some wars are more justifiable than others.
I don't even think you can call it naivete. There is an almost total white-washing and hiding of information related to US involvement in global conflicts. When was the last time you saw a dead US Soldier? I can't say we're naive, we're just victims of the worst sort of propoganda; little sheep being led to slaughter (not to be so dramatic).

I see what you're saying, and I am not trying to justify what the US government is doing. In fact, I think it's pretty despicable. I guess my point was that it is still pretty obvious that there is much white washing and hiding of information going on. This is why I find it hard to see those who have enlisted as "victims". Generally speaking, I think people are led to the slaughter like sheep because they choose to *behave* like sheep. In that case they've got nobody to blame but themselves (and Americans seem to hate accepting the responsibility for their own actions; conversely, they love to bitch and point fingers).
I hear what you're saying. You bring up an important question:Is the mindless behavior chosen or not? I am a conspiracist. I believe that we as American people have been and are being conditioned to not question, to be sheep. How else can you govern millions of diverse people? If you stop teaching true history, dull peoples minds with drugs (both legal and illegal), distract with the obstacles of everyday life, you'll have a people just asking to be led, not questioning why or where. I agree with how we think as Americans (there's a word for it, but I can't think of it right now). But that, too, I believe is conditioning. It's something taught and socially learned. I think we're victims of one big PsyOps campaign, going on for several generations.
